Terms of service
Free and Plus for personal use, separate commercial licensing, and the conditions for using remote access and monitoring.
Last updated 9 October 2026
The agreement
These terms are a contract between you and WakeBeacon ("we", "us") for the WakeBeacon website, web dashboard, phone apps, desktop agent and optional WakeBeacon Remote Access service (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or installing the software you accept them. If you use the Service on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you can bind that organisation.
Personal plans and commercial licensing
The Free plan is available for personal, non-commercial purposes on computers you own. Optional Plus subscriptions provide the additional limits shown before purchase. Monitoring and remote-session allowances are shown in your account.
Commercial use requires a separate licence agreed with us in writing. Commercial use includes waking or accessing computers owned or managed by a business, providing wake or remote access to staff, clients or a fleet, and any use where you receive payment. Contact hello@wakebeacon.com to arrange terms.
Mobile Plus subscriptions
Plus purchasing is being prepared for the mobile apps. Once available, purchases use App Store or Google Play billing. The store shows the localized price, subscription period and renewal conditions before you confirm; suggested website launch prices are not a checkout quote.
Subscriptions renew under the terms shown by your store unless you cancel. Manage or cancel through that store. Cancellation ordinarily retains access through the verified paid period; expiry, a refund or a revocation can end access. Any applicable store refund process and mandatory consumer rights continue to apply.
Your plan belongs to the WakeBeacon account used to purchase. Restore purchases while signed in to that same account. Signing in to a different account does not transfer the plan. Deleting WakeBeacon or deleting your WakeBeacon account does not cancel a store subscription.
If we reduce a Plus allowance, the purchased allowance remains available through the current verified paid period. Increased allowances can apply immediately. Renewals use the offer then in effect. Features still require device compatibility, connectivity and your separate permission to collect monitoring data.
Your account
You need a verified email address. Keep your password private and turn on two-step verification if you use remote access. You are responsible for everything done through your account until you tell us it has been compromised.
Acceptable use
You agree to:
- add only computers you own or are explicitly authorised to manage;
- obtain consent from anyone who uses a computer you access remotely;
- enable activity monitoring or screenshots only with the knowledge and permission of the people using that computer;
- not probe, overload, reverse engineer or interfere with the Service or other people's accounts;
- not use the Service for anything unlawful or to access systems without permission.
What the Service can and cannot promise
Waking a computer depends on its hardware, firmware, drivers, power settings and network, none of which we control. A sent packet is not a guarantee that a computer wakes; the Service reports a wake as confirmed only when the computer checks in.
Remote access is unattended access to your own computers. Sessions are limited to the screen, expire at the deadline shown when you connect, and show a notice on the computer. Enable remote access on each computer and grant the required operating-system permissions before connecting.
You are responsible for configuring your own network, including any router forwarding you choose to enable.
Availability and changes
We work to keep the Service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation. We may change, suspend or discontinue features, and we will give reasonable notice of changes that materially reduce what free personal use includes.
Software and intellectual property
We grant you a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the WakeBeacon apps and desktop agent as part of the Service. We keep all rights in the Service. Third-party open-source notices for distributed software are provided with the applicable installer.
Ending the agreement
You can delete your account at any time from inside the app; this removes your computers, wake requests and sign-in identity. An organization's computers stay with the organization: deleting your account removes your membership, any assigned to you become unassigned, and any signed in with your account need someone else to sign in on them. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, after notice where practical. Sections about intellectual property, disclaimers and liability survive termination.
Disclaimer
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for loss of data, profits or business, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service. For free personal use our total liability is limited to 100 euros; for licensed commercial use it is set in the licence agreement. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of the country in which WakeBeacon's operator is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and disputes are brought before the courts of that country. Consumers keep any mandatory protections of the law where they live.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the current version. For material changes we notify account holders by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after that date means you accept the new terms.
